Join Us During Alder Hey In The Park Week – Starting 6 July

During a week-long festival from 6th -11th July ‘Alder Hey in the Park Week’, the hospital will join forces with the local community to celebrate the new state-of-the-art health park around the new Alder Hey, scheduled to open in the Autumn.

Throughout the week, local people will have an opportunity to have their say on the future of Springfield Park. A number of events will take place to engage with local schools and community groups, while there will be plenty of activities for the public to enjoy including a Market on Friday 10th July and a free Family Fun Day on Saturday 11th July. The events will take place in a big top tent in Springfield Park next to the new Alder Hey hospital.

Community interest group ‘We Make Places’ will also be running a public consultation for individuals, families, friends and neighbours during ‘Alder Hey in the Park Week’. Members of the public are invited to drop in to the Big Top Tent on Thursday 9th July (3pm-6pm) and Saturday 11th July (10.30am-2pm) to have their say on the future of Springfield Park.

Visitors to the Park on Friday 10th July can enjoy local produce and arts and crafts at a Market run by local traders from 12pm-8pm. On Saturday 11th July (10.30am-7pm), a Family Fun Day will give the public a chance to get involved in a range of exciting activities including foraging workshops, bug hunting, planting workshops, storytelling and fitness bootcamps. Visitors can learn more about adopting an Alder Hey garden, the use of ‘Aquaponics’ in the new hospital and proposals for the park development.

Rachel Armstrong, Project Coordinator for Alder Hey, said: “We hope as many people as possible are able to join us in celebrating ‘Alder Hey in the Park Week’. This festival will focus on the future of Springfield Park, which will surround our new children’s hospital when it opens later this year.

“We are really looking forward to having an opportunity to engage with local people about our new hospital and the development of the Park. ‘Alder Hey in the Park Week’ gives us a fantastic opportunity to share our proposals for the park and hear the thoughts of local people about what they want from their park. This is their chance to have their say and help us create a Springfield Park that meets the needs of the entire local community.”

Further details about Alder Hey in the Park Week and the public consultation are available by contacting Rachel Armstrong at AHParkWeek@alderhey.nhs.uk
