FoSP Statement 27th January 2017

The Friends of Springfield Park look forward to further consultation with Alder Hey, Liverpool City Council and the wider community regarding residential and commercial development on the old hospital site. The vision of a high quality, unique, sustainable, safe, green flag park with the same usable parkland is something that we continue to support.

It’s worth remembering some of the improvements that a new Springfield Park could bring to our neighbourhood under the Four Key Themes we have been working on:

  • Grow Your Own Food
  • Inclusive Sports
  • Innovative Play
  • Social Events

Features discussed include:

  • Woodland walks and a Forest School
  • Flexible Multi – Use Space for informal play and sports
  • New paths and access routes
  • An edible planting scheme, community orchar
  • New seating
  • A multi use pavilion with indoor/outdoor space for events, classes and activities
  • A performance area
  • New children’s play equipment
  • New enhanced lighting
  • Potential future cafe

The FoSP meet regularly about every six weeks, new members are welcome, we value your comments and want to ensure that the local community are fully engaged in discussions about the future of Springfield Park.
